Thank You Everyone!!

by Mauli

Last year on this day, I started my little experiment with this blog –to test the waters of writing.

Honestly, I wasn’t much of a writer when I started out, I had a personal journal, but that’s about it. I had no formal knowledge of creative writing-fiction or non fiction. But I wanted to write- that was clear to me. Being an insecure person, I was scared of being judged, even when I had so many posts ready. I was scared to put them out there, for the fear of being mocked or failing. Months passed by and I procrastinated, waiting on some miracle to turn me into a better writer.

Worst decision I ever made. When nothing Is going right- do you give up or do you go out there and try? Honestly, the latter looks very flattering on CVs but the reality was something else. I felt I didn’t have it in me to write. Even when people would come to me, saying they loved what I wrote, I believed it but not too much. It was beautiful, but I dismissed for a lot of reasons: thinking that maybe they say it coz they are just nice friends. Or they are probably biased or prejudiced. And the little evil voice inside my head would say: You’re just not good enough.

Then one day, something changed.

And I decided to be brave. To not fear the consequences, and control at least what I could- my actions. The first step I took was to plan, design and envisage how my blog should look like. No, I didn’t just put it out there, the minute I got braver. Instead, I spent countless hours, drafting, redrafting, editing, obsessing over what I wrote, how it looked, and how it appeared. I read and reread my posts each time, to see whether a reader would like it. This blog was finally launched a few months after that.

Now, with each post my morale grows, my confidence shoots up. But most importantly, the whole idea of this blog is to talk about positivity and learnings and experiences and problems and gratitude and humour. That and anything that you read in here, is to give you a little to think about. I have a voice now, a sane voice in my head, that says: If you are making a difference, even for one person who is reading this, it is enough. And I am happy.

So if you are like me and have a dream: cherish it, nurture it, work on it and make it happen: What’s the essence of passion? It is something that makes you happy. Isn’t it? And that happiness is extraordinary. It is so wonderful, that you do not have to find it outside anymore, it is within you and it keeps growing. Slowly, everything else becomes a little less scary, a little more exciting. That is where I stand today.

Let’s just say my tiny experiment was successful and I am quite confident that this is the way forward. And this has all been possible because of each of you. Like I said, it’s easier to read content that’s not a lot. But even when I put such lengthy, heavy posts out there- You guys read through each one, and loved me the more for it.

You have made me a better writer, you have made me want to write. Each time someone asked me when is the next post coming out, it felt like the biggest achievement. Someone wants to read my work, someone appreciates it- I can’t imagine a better compliment than this. It’s incredible and its powerful. So, thank you everyone, I am so grateful to all of you, and do stay tuned, better things are coming 😀

  Merci                     Danke                           Shukran                        Dhanyavaad                            Gracias
